On 1/14/2013, President Obama attacked Republicans in Congress for their threat to shutdown government over the debt ceiling battle.
“We are not a deadbeat nation…” Obama declared. He believed it’s “absurd” for the government not to pay “bills that have already been racked up.”
Are we a deadbeat nation?
With a president who:
—has racked up over $1 trillion in deficit for each year he’s been in office with nothing to show for. There are still over 19 million who could not find a job in December. And over 47 million people are still dependent on food-stamps. Economy is growing at a pathetic 2% a year.
—has not had a budget approved by Congress. In 2012, his budget was voted down 99-0 in the Senate. Not even one vote from his Democrats.
Maybe we should be…
Republicans should hold Democrats and Obama to deep spending cuts
In a recent Gallup poll, “Federal budget deficit” was second most important issue in the country—with 20% of Americans (30% of Republicans and 12% of Democrats) thought so.
The Republicans should force Democrats and Obama to negotiate spending cuts—or let the $1.2 trillion cuts take effect in March.
The country cannot continue to borrow at a pace of over $1 trillion a year. After all, by taking out a credit card from Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt…That is irresponsible. It’s unpatriotic. Candidate Obama was correct back then. Unfortunately, he did not mean what he said.
