“We DID Build it”
As Mitt Romney and Republicans are taking advantage of “You didn’t build that!” comment from the President, President Obama is back-pedaling from his comment—accusing Romney of twisting/slicing/dicing his words.
Do American business owners build their own business?
—Cathy and Larry Bononi own a small grocery, Freddie’s Market in Webster Groves, said her husband and his father worked hard to build their business. Cathy Bononi said “No one handed them anything”
—Dave McArthur, co-owner of McArthur’s Bakery, believes the government is out-of-touch with small business. “Washington, especially this president, doesn’t have a clue,” McArthur declared.
—Lou Ramos, a small business owner from Tampa, said the president’s comments made him “almost threw up” when he heard it. The owner of Value Enterprise Solutions believes Obama thinks success is about government handouts and not perseverance
George Jefferson built his business on his own!
“The Jeffersons” star Sherman Hemsley died on 7/25/2012 at the age of 74. He brilliantly played the role of George Jefferson and “The Jeffersons” brought laughter to American family rooms during a span of 11 years (1975-1985).
George Jefferson epitomized the image of small business owner.
George Jefferson built his business on his own. He worked as a janitor and lived in the working class neighborhood of Queens (NY). He started his dry-cleaning business using an insurance settlement from a car accident. And one store at a time, he built himself a chain of seven stores—with no help from the government of course.
Rest in peace, Sherman Hemsley—George Jefferson.
