If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that…
During a speech in Roanoke (VA), in an effort to justify higher tax rates for the rich, President Obama said “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”
And he said “I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something – there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.”
However he wants to twist it to slam successful people…the truth is that most successful people worked hard. This, however, does not equate logically to “hard working people will all be successful”.
There have been millions of successful businessmen, but only 1 Steve Jobs
There have been millions of smart scientists, but only 1 Albert Einstein and 1 Marie Curie.
There have been millions of college drop-outs, but only 1 Bill Gates.
On the other hand, you can also argue…there may be millions of pot-smoking college students, but only 1 Barack Obama (hopefully)!
What taxes are for?
We paid taxes for the government to provide the military to protect our nation, and we are grateful for the men/women in the military making sacrifices for this country.
We paid taxes for schools, and we are grateful for the many teachers who help building the future for this country.
We paid taxes for policemen/policewomen, and we are grateful for the many teachers who help building the future for this country.
But, we don’t pay taxes for the over-regulations that slow our business growth.
Not for the government to invest $500 billion into companies such as Solyndra.
Not for Nancy Pelosi to use over $2 million in flying between San Francisco and DC.
